Christmas

For Christmas this year, we headed down to St. George to my parents house.  We had such a good time and as always, it was much too short!  We had too much good food, so I told Jordan it was salads for us for a week!... and we really only lasted one day.  Thank you to my parents for hosting us and making it a great Christmas!

We got down there Thursday night. It was a bit of a rough ride down there again with Owen.  He usually doesn't take evening naps, so we were in the car for a majority of his awake hours... he was not a happy baby!

Friday and most of Saturday was pretty low key.  We finished up our Christmas shopping both days. I had most of mine done, but wanted to get Jordan a few more small things.  When I was telling my parents that I got Jordan a drill, I found out that they were also giving one to Jordan.  So when I thought I was mostly done, I had to practically start all over!  Christmas Eve night, we had my grandpa and his wife over for a delicious dinner followed by a Christmas program of singing and Christmas thoughts.

Owen spent the dinner entertained in this walker. He was so good and liked it so much, I went right to the store the day after we got home and bought him an exersaucer.
The whole clan

Playing with grandpa. Love the sequence of these photos. Not so sure... some assurance that he's okay... and actually, this is pretty fun!

Owen was completely fascinated with my dad the entire weekend. His eyes would follow him wherever he went and he would light up each time he said his name.  Especially if he said it in this voice.  I haven't ever seen that strange movie, let alone heard of it, but luckily for us, my dad has. Since Owen was born, my dad has shown me this clip countless times and I have a feeling it isn't going anywhere anytime soon.

No Christmas is complete without the pets in some Christmas attire... Duke as Santa and Bella as his reindeer

Growing up, my dad always bought us some Christmas jammies to wear on Christmas Eve.  They started out normal (aside from usually being about 3 sizes too big), but then they progressively turned into the funniest and weirdest things my dad could find (which is not a surprise if you know my dad at all).  We decided to continue on with the normal jammies.  Jordan didn't buy them this year since I am still trying to sell him on adapting this tradition, but next year, I will get him!

Christmas jammies!

Since Owen was the only "kid" there, we weren't in any type of rush in the morning. We all got up around 9:30.  Since my parents had church at 11, we didn't have time for gifts AND breakfast, so naturally we went for the food option. My dad has been making us sausage omelets since I can remember. Yummmm.

Morning face.
It was kind of nice to only have Owen suffer through these dreaded Christmas morning pictures.  I have enough pictures of me makeup-less with a swollen morning face from past Christmas mornings thankyouverymuch.

Next, we enjoyed a lovely Sacrament meeting at my parent's ward. Unfortunately, I spent a majority of the meeting trying to get Owen to sleep so we could have a somewhat enjoyable experience opening presents.  But of course, the little stinker wouldn't go for it.  I liked having Christmas on a Sunday - especially since it usually feels like a Sunday to me anyway.  And it was nice to have that reminder of what Christmas is really about.

As soon as we came home, it was back to the comfy clothes in an attempt to feel Christmas morning-ish.

My mom, Hannah, Katie, Jordan, me and Owen. And of course my parent's spoiled dog, Bella
 Opening his first Christmas present...
The Lion King!  In an attempt to build up our collection, I wanted to start a tradition of getting him a Disney movie each Christmas.
Little O was spoiled this year by his grandparents and aunties!

On Monday, we saw We Bought a Zoo and then finished off the trip with a trip to Arctic Circle. You read that right... my dad's choice, not mine.

You know Owen likes you when he becomes fascinated with your face.  Looks like you passed the test, dad!  And just moments after this, my mom also passed the test, but instead of a loving touch, he did more of a loving grabbing of the eye... taking out some eyelashes along the way.

Thank you to everyone who made it a great Christmas!  This was the first year we haven't been able to see both of our families around this time of year and we missed being able to see Jordan's family!

Loved loved loved this post! So glad you got some pictures! I was so lame I did not take one single pic and was feeling sad we didn't take any...so thanks. Loved the dedication to dad, so loved that you included the tape from "Owen loves his mama"! Laughed hysterically! You even got a pic of the omelet...so impressive! Glad that Owen does love his momma!
