Lucky to be Alive...

I know that title sounds really dramatic, but seriously... why do freak accidents always happen to me?

On Saturday, we went to dinner to celebrate a friend's birthday and then afterwards decided to hit up the driving range for some fun.  Jordan and I have been to the driving range a few times before, but I am still not super comfortable with it. I was practicing with Jordan's driver. I am always really timid with it because it feels really fragile and it is sized for Jordan... not me.  So I was struggling to hit the ball.  My friend Nan comes up and says to move over so she can give me some tips.  I laughed because hello, I am married to Jordan who is actually pretty good at golfing, so I probably didn't need tips from her. But decided to please her and allow her to give me some tips.  So I thought these were talking tips so I was standing behind her and to the left a little... NOPE.  Next thing I know, she is winding up for a full swing and

!WHACK!

She hits me directly in the head with the golf club.  I didn't pass out or anything, but next thing I know, everyone is surrounding me holding me and asking if I am fine. I was totally fine. Yes, my head stung a little bit, but it was making me freak out even more with everyone standing all around me and freaking out.  I've had a headache for a few days, but seriously, if I was going to get hit, I was SO lucky to be standing where I was.  And that it was a girl golfing. And that it was only the shaft (skinny part) and not the actual head of the club that hit me.  This accident came literally 10 seconds after her sister had finished telling a story about how her brother in law was hit in the head at this exact golf course and was now blind in one of his eyes.

Imagine my head being hit at the end of this series

The reason I say I am lucky to be alive is because this joins a long list of add objects hitting me in the head. When I was like 12, I was at my uncle Josh and aunt Jenny's pre-wedding dinner and was hit in the head by the bride with a pinata stick.

And when I was 14, I was shopping at a department store and a big, metal pole (probably about 12-14 tall, a few inches thick around) that was holding an advertisement tipped over and fell on my head.

Imagine this. Except taller. More metal. Thicker. Heavier. And basically nothing like this.  After I got hit, all of these types of poles were removed from the store, so I can't provide you with a proper visual. No joke.

I think I need to wear a helmet at all times.
