I don't even want to talk about how Owen will be ONE next month. This past year has flown by and I am in a bit of denial. Owen is so much fun at this age. He is always happy and smiling and we love how much he can interact with us now.
A little bit about our little bug:
- Favorite foods: dry cereal, yogurt, apples, oatmeal. He is also a drinker. He loves drinking water out of his sippy and loves to drink anything we are drinking especially (much to my dismay) soda! He loves that stuff but only gets spoiled occasionally by his dad, aunties and grandparents. Also loves otter pops and insists on having his own.
- Least favorite foods: Still hates eggs. He also is starting to hate chunks of food. Before, he would only eat bananas and avocados in little chunks and wouldn't eat them mashed up. Now he only likes them mashed up and won't eat them in chunks. Apparently he is regressing instead of progressing...
- Words: Uh oh (although still just the uh part), mama, dad (da), hi, dog (da). He also kind of says toodle (from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse). When they say, "Oh Toodle!" he says "too".
- Still sleeping pretty good. He keeps going through spurts of waking up either in the middle of the night or in the early early morning, but I think it is mostly teething. Hopefully we all will actually be sleeping all of the way through the night by age 1!
- Loves to dance. If he hears any kind of music, he will start bouncing up and down - no matter where we are! Last week when we were shopping, the store was playing loud music and he could just not get enough of the beat.
- Loves dogs and loves to read his book about puppies. He even started giving all of the puppies on the pages kisses which is great since I get about one kiss a month!
- He is such a copy cat. If you make a fishie face, he will too. If you click your mouth, he will too. I am a big whistler and the other day, he whistled (which may have resulted in me literally jump up and down from excitement) And most recently, my sister Kate was snapping her fingers and what did he do? Oh, he just started to attempt to snap. It was so cute to watch him look at his fingers and snap them apart.
- Has absolutely no interest in walking. He used to let us walk with his hands, but now he gets major noodle legs every time we try to make him. He walks just fine along things and hardly even uses anything for support. I know that he will do it on his own time, but I also know that he could do it now if he wanted to!
- Has the funniest fake laugh. Whenever other people laugh, he starts laughing like he has an idea of what is going on.
- LOVES Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I didn't really think he would have any interest in it, but whenever it starts, he gets this big grin on his face and makes sure that I see it. Like, "mom, isn't this the greatest thing EVER?" He will also crawl from anywhere in the house to see the hot dog dance. Since he is not a great eater, I often have to put on MMC to distract him while I hurry and shove food in his mouth.
- Plays peek a boo. He will either cover his face with whatever he has (blankets, clothes, paper - he's not picky) and hide himself or he will duck behind something and pop up and down. Sometimes he will even just turn his head away and play it that way. As long as he can't see us, we can't see him, right?
- Gets into anything and everything. Whether it is emptying out all of the baggies out of the box in the kitchen or exploring every square inch of our house, this kid is full of action. I greatly envy the ladies at church who have babies who will sit contently on their laps through all of the meetings. Pretty sure that isn't ever going to happen with us!
- Loves being outside or looking out the window. His favorite spot in our house is right on our couch (that sits in front of a window) looking outside. He also loves climbing up stairs. Hopefully he will learn to crawl down them soon since we have a very large staircase to get up to our main level.
I know I say this on every post, but pictures were impossible this month. Most of them include him drinking from a cup because that's the only way I could get him to sit "still"
I'm sad this pic is blurry because it is totally a Gabe (my nephew) face.
Always trying to escape. These pictures turn out blurry partially because he doesn't sit still and because I am taking a picture with one hand and preparing to catch him with the other. All while trying to get him to look at the camera and smile.
As you can see from the huge smile on his face, he LOVES to unload those books from the shelf!
Baby blues
Really getting into that drinking.
Told you he loves his cup
A nice, safe toy to play with
Enough paparazzi! I'm out of here.
