11 Months

I don't even want to talk about how Owen will be ONE next month. This past year has flown by and I am in a bit of denial.  Owen is so much fun at this age.  He is always happy and smiling and we love how much he can interact with us now.

A little bit about our little bug:
  • Favorite foods: dry cereal, yogurt, apples, oatmeal.  He is also a drinker.  He loves drinking water out of his sippy and loves to drink anything we are drinking especially (much to my dismay) soda! He loves that stuff but only gets spoiled occasionally by his dad, aunties and grandparents.  Also loves otter pops and insists on having his own.
  • Least favorite foods: Still hates eggs.  He also is starting to hate chunks of food. Before, he would only eat bananas and avocados in little chunks and wouldn't eat them mashed up. Now he only likes them mashed up and won't eat them in chunks. Apparently he is regressing instead of progressing...
  • Words: Uh oh (although still just the uh part), mama, dad (da), hi, dog (da).  He also kind of says toodle (from Mickey Mouse Clubhouse). When they say, "Oh Toodle!" he says "too".
  • Still sleeping pretty good. He keeps going through spurts of waking up either in the middle of the night or in the early early morning, but I think it is mostly teething.  Hopefully we all will actually be sleeping all of the way through the night by age 1!
  • Loves to dance. If he hears any kind of music, he will start bouncing up and down - no matter where we are!  Last week when we were shopping, the store was playing loud music and he could just not get enough of the beat.
  • Loves dogs and loves to read his book about puppies.  He even started giving all of the puppies on the pages kisses which is great since I get about one kiss a month!
  • He is such a copy cat.  If you make a fishie face, he will too. If you click your mouth, he will too.  I am a big whistler and the other day, he whistled (which may have resulted in me literally jump up and down from excitement)  And most recently, my sister Kate was snapping her fingers and what did he do? Oh, he just started to attempt to snap. It was so cute to watch him look at his fingers and snap them apart.
  • Has absolutely no interest in walking.  He used to let us walk with his hands, but now he gets major noodle legs every time we try to make him.  He walks just fine along things and hardly even uses anything for support. I know that he will do it on his own time, but I also know that he could do it now if he wanted to!
  • Has the funniest fake laugh.  Whenever other people laugh, he starts laughing like he has an idea of what is going on.
  • LOVES Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. I didn't really think he would have any interest in it, but whenever it starts, he gets this big grin on his face and makes sure that I see it. Like, "mom, isn't this the greatest thing EVER?"  He will also crawl from anywhere in the house to see the hot dog dance.  Since he is not a great eater, I often have to put on MMC to distract him while I hurry and shove food in his mouth.
  • Plays peek a boo.  He will either cover his face with whatever he has (blankets, clothes, paper - he's not picky) and hide himself or he will duck behind something and pop up and down.  Sometimes he will even just turn his head away and play it that way. As long as he can't see us, we can't see him, right?
  • Gets into anything and everything. Whether it is emptying out all of the baggies out of the box in the kitchen or exploring every square inch of our house, this kid is full of action. I greatly envy the ladies at church who have babies who will sit contently on their laps through all of the meetings. Pretty sure that isn't ever going to happen with us!
  • Loves being outside or looking out the window.  His favorite spot in our house is right on our couch (that sits in front of a window) looking outside.  He also loves climbing up stairs. Hopefully he will learn to crawl down them soon since we have a very large staircase to get up to our main level.
I know I say this on every post, but pictures were impossible this month.  Most of them include him drinking from a cup because that's the only way I could get him to sit "still"

I'm sad this pic is blurry because it is totally a Gabe (my nephew) face.

Always trying to escape. These pictures turn out blurry partially because he doesn't sit still and because I am taking a picture with one hand and preparing to catch him with the other.  All while trying to get him to look at the camera and smile.

As you can see from the huge smile on his face, he LOVES to unload those books from the shelf!

Baby blues

Really getting into that drinking.

Told you he loves his cup

A nice, safe toy to play with

Enough paparazzi! I'm out of here.

Oh Toodle! face

Really into Mickey and waiting for the Hot Dog dance

YES! The Hot Dog dance

Has to get up and personal with the TV while the Hot Dog dance is on.

Family Pics

My friend Natalie took our family pictures in February.  I love them!

Hi.

Owen was getting tired of pics and needed a weed to play with.

Love my bug.

10 Months

I can't believe my little bug is 10 months old. That is just way too close to a year for my liking!  He is getting more and more fun each day and we just love him more than anything!
  • Nicknames: Bug, Little Bug, Buggie, Owie
  • Favorite food: Cheerios or crackers. Realistically though, it's french fries and ice cream
  • Least favorite food: Eggs. He hates them!  Also hates anything he is unsure about.  When you try to feed him something, he will make my favorite face ever. He squints his eyes as tight as they will go together as the food gets closer and closer. It's the best.
  • Words: Ma, Da, Hi, Bye. He seems like he is going to be an early talker. When I say something like, "Do you want to go to the PARK?", he will sound it out and say something like "Paaa".
  • Learned to clap, make a fishy face and give the best kisses.  Actually, sometimes the only way I can get him to give me a kiss is if I make a fishy face and give a fishy kiss.
  • He is a fast little crawler. He is still walking along things pretty well, but doesn't seem to have an interest in walking yet.
  • He is pretty skinny and little (or so everyone says). I swear I feed him plenty, but he is a mover and a shaker so he burns the calories right off.
  • Unloads the DVS on our shelf no less than 4 times per day. He would unload it more, but by the 4th time, I am so sick of restocking them, so I just leave them on the floor.
  • His FAVORITE activity is unloading things.  "Oh, there are still things in this basket? Ok, let me just go ahead and keep throwing them out..."
  • LOVES dogs.  He whines like he is crying because he gets so excited.  I have found animal shows on TV a few times and he is in heaven.  His favorite book is a little book of puppies his Grammy gave him.
  • Lives for any kind of beat. This kid is a dancer!  Sometimes he will get on all fours and just bang his head up and down. And it isn't uncommon for him to dance so hard, he tips over.  He gets so excited when we turn on music. He definitely gets this from the Gildea side!
  • His favorite things to get into are the last thing any mother would want their baby to get into: the toilet, toilet brushes and the plunger. It's so gross!  And he definitely has selective hearing when we tell him "no" when he tries to play with it.
  • He has turned a new leaf and is becoming the best sleeper!  He takes 2 naps that last at least 2 hours (sometimes more like 3 hours...) and he is even mostly sleeping through the night! (besides a few mornings when he wakes up at 5 just to eat).  I can't tell you how awesome this is.
  • Still very into grinding his teeth and biting things. Grinds them on our coffee table, his books, DVDS and pretty much anything else that looks good.  He even tried to bit my toes the other day.
  • Loves to be outside. We could go on a walk for hours and he would still not be bored.  Loves to sit straight up in his stroller ready for action.
  • Sometimes I think that he thinks he is 4 years old. When there are older kids playing in our neighborhood, he crawls right over to them like he is just part of the gang.  He also thinks that he can ride bikes and scooters. He is just so sick of being a baby!
Pics this month were a struggle (I know I say that every month, but this time I mean it!) He moves way too much and we took them too late in the day...
My sister Kate gave him this hat and I would be lying if I didn't say it wasn't the stinkin cutest thing I have ever seen.  At first he wanted nothing to do with it, but now he will actually keep it on his head.

Is there something down there I can play with?

I'm outta here.

Yep, there's all of the books I knocked off the shelf earlier.

Cheese!

Strike a pose.

Oh hello there.

Love those baby blues.
