Christmas Break and Other Festivities

I have been so bad at posting lately, but now I am going to shape up! It is SUCH a relief to not have to go to school next semester. I am definitely going to enjoy my little break! Now I will finally have times to not only post, but do things worth posting about! (Studying in the library is not exactly worthy of posting)

After A LOT of car problems, we (my sis Katie, Jordan and I) finally found ourselves in sunny, yet very far from warm, California. Although we arrived at a late hour, my sisters and I woke up very early and sang The First Noel in church--after very little practice. My sister Natalie and her husband and kids arrived later that day and my other sister Nicole arrived with her husband and kids the next day. We headed straight down to ROLLERTOWN that afternoon (worthy of its own post coming later). After our Christmas Eve dinner and program, we had to say goodbye to Jordan because he was heading back to Las Vegas to spend Christmas with his family. It has been so hard to be away from him! Working together and spending as much time together as we can, being away for 8 whole days has been rough!

The next morning we woke up to open presents. I was sooooo lucky to get a new camera from Jordan--which will definitely come in handy for future postings! I also got some money from my parents so I could hit the after Christmas sales.... which I did. Nick and Nicole had to leave the next day and Natalie and Ben left shortly after that to go on a cruise. This resulted in a lot of sitting around the house, which was fabulous. I definitley miss changing out of my pajamas after 3 pm :) So basically, life was pretty hard.

There is tons more to write about, but I will write about those all later--which equals more posts! Here are some pictures from the festivities:

My niece Laine and nephew Jaxton. Laine was obsessed with holding him even though they look like they are the same size in this picture... although she isn't very much bigger.
My niece Hayden on Christmas morning
My nephew Gabe. He was probably getting into stuff like he always does... He is so cute. He is moving to Australia next week and I am going to miss this little guy like crazy
My nieces Hallie and Avery coloring some of their Christmas gifts.
My nephew Jax and I. He always has this expression on his face--bright eyed and bushy tailed!
My mom, Laine, sissy Katie and Gabe.

Tis the Season... for finals

I hate that BYU is getting out so late. It is like I don't get really get to celebrate Christmas until like two days before the actual day. Isn't Christmas time a time for family and celebrating the birth of Christ and being merry and cheer around the season? That is how I always imagine it. Well now I have an entire different perspective. Instead of spending time with my family, I am spending time with my textbooks and instead of being cheery and bright, I am stressed about whether or not I am going to pass the classes I have been slaving over the past few months (yes, not get good grades in... I am strictly talking about passing the classes). This realization was confirmed this weekend as I received a friendly email from one of my teachers regarding a group paper that I invested approximately 20+ hours in. She was writing to inform me that our paper was so bad, that she actually stopped grading it half way through. Awesome. I don't know if that means that we got a zero or what, but I am taking that as we didn't do as well as we should have... I am pretty sure that it is safe to assume that. I guess that is the last time I put someone else in charge of proofreading. I have learned my lesson. Not only that, but the group that I was put in was completely unfair. This is a business writing class full of business majors and we are the only group that wasn't assigned at least one or two business majors in, so all in all, it wasn't fair to begin with. The point of this all is that I am not getting to enjoy the Christmas season because BYU insists on having finals going up until the last possible second that they can. Boo. Luckily Shauna (Jordan's sister) had a Christmas party on Saturday and that was pretty much one of the first Christmas things I have done this year. (See above pic) Can't wait until this weekend when I can actually relax and spend time with people that I love!

WANTED: Time

Yep, another post about how I have no time. I don't think that I can say it enough... I am sooooo excited about next semester to have my evenings back. I fully plan on making delicious dinners for Jordan and I, keeping my room clean, picking up some hobbies, reading, making jewelry, working out (which I haven't done in AGES I might add), and the list could go on. My current time predicament? Keeping my room clean. I fully plan on having some good wall posts, but the only problem is that I can't find my camera cord. It is lost underneath one of the many piles in my room. Hopefully I can find it soon so the few people that actually check my blog will have something to look at. So just know that as soon as I have time to find my cord, I will try and post ASAP... if I can find time. :) Perhaps I could save time by not posting about nonsense...

Homeless

Jordan and I have been trying to decide where we are going to live after we get married. It has been a little difficult because most contracts don't start in March. So we are debating whether I should try to sell my contract and move into our new place and have one of my friends live there with me, or if we should just try and find something in March.

So this is where the readers come in. If any you know of a place that would rent to us for either January-May or March-May PLEASE let me know. If any of you have basements or friends that have basements that they would be willing to rent out to a few poor college students, please let me know--otherwise, we might be living on the streets. And yes, we have tried looking on housing websites, but most have one year leases or are too expensive. We will be able to afford a lot nicer place once we have both worked all summer, but for now, we will just have to take whatever we can get. eek.

Three Weeks to Go and I CAN'T WAIT!

I haven't really had anything to post about for the past few weeks--not to mention the fact that I haven't had time. Life always gets so hectic between Thanksgiving and Christmas break. And conveniently, this is when I lose ALL motivation to keep going. I guess I will just have to force myself to have a good attitude about it until then. I haven't really had any time to think about wedding plans because I don't have time. I guess I will have a lot of work to do after Christmas Break! Anyways, my mom just wanted an update and was complaining that I never update my blog. So here it is mom!

Save the Date

So... I think we have decided on a date. After my sister who is moving to Australia PROMISED that she would only be able to come in March, we have decided on March 6, 2008. SAVE THE DATE!

The Best Birthday Ever!

Warning: THIS IS KINDA LONG ☺

Yesterday was my 21st birthday. It was a fun-filled day accompanied with taking an accounting test and staying in class until 6 pm. Although it didn’t feel like my birthday complete, I got so many loving phone calls, emails, blog comments and a few text messages. I was so surprised that so many people remembered! Sometimes that is almost better than the gifts… almost.

So Jordan picked me up from my evening class to go to Salt Lake to have dinner. He arrived with an EXTREMELY large bouquet of flowers (like seriously, the largest I have ever seen) and took me to my house to get ready. He had a few presents in the back of the car and when we got to my house, I was supposed to open them. However, I of course took too long getting ready and we were running a little late, so I told him we could open them at dinner or sometime after.

On the way up to Salt Lake, my friend texted me and asked me if I had gotten anything shiny for my birthday. I told her no. (Rewind: I knew that he had already ordered it because I knew that he had been saving for awhile and one day on a date I asked him how much he had saved. Well he made the mistake of telling me and then amount was dramatically lower than it should have been… we’re talking a few thousand dollars here. Well I tried to ask him about it and he blamed it on something like bills… right, bills. He would get mad every time I asked about it and finally he confessed that he had bought the ring and he had wanted to propose on my birthday, but it wouldn’t be ready in time.) Anyway, I told her no and I didn’t think it was going to happen because 1- He didn’t seem nervous enough and 2- I didn’t know where he could have been keeping it since he was just wearing slacks and a nice shirt and I couldn’t see it anywhere in his pocket (I checked). So I laughed at this message and told him what this friend had said and he said something like, “I really hope that you aren’t getting your hopes up that you are going to get it tonight, because you are setting yourself up for failure. It won’t be done in time… yada yada yada”. Right… It won’t be done in time. I kinda believed him, but mostly didn’t. I had a feeling all day that it was going to be the day.

So we went to dinner at The Roof in SLC (beautiful by the way) and I just kept waiting for it to happen… patiently waiting. Well, it didn’t. I thought, wow, he was really telling the truth. I guess that it really wasn’t going to happen. So we left (I was a little disappointed) and started for home. We still had the gifts in the back of the car. He said that he wanted to go back to Provo to open them. I was a little too impatient for that, so I told him that we should just go somewhere local. So we drove around for the next like half hour trying to find somewhere. We wanted to see a view of the city so we kept going more and more uphill, but we couldn’t see anything because there were trees everywhere! I suggested that we just go sit by the temple, but luckily we decided against that. So we just went up to the capital building and pulled over on the side of the road in front of it.

I had 4 varying sizes of presents. He had even wrapped them himself—complete with A LOT of scotch tape. I opened the smallest one first (of course, I wanted to save the best for last!) and found lip gloss (I have a fetish. I currently have 9 lip glosses in my purse, so this was perfect! ☺). Next I opened a box that had a gift certificate to go and get a manicure and pedicure (I had told him that I wanted to get my nails done before I got engaged because I HATE my nails and didn’t want to show them to everyone when I showed them the ring, however, I did not pick up on this at all). The next gift was a cute sweater that he had picked out for me (with the help of his sister Shauna… thanks!). The last was a larger box. I opened it up and found an empty box that holds a ring box. I just looked at him and said, “Are you serious?” He then proceeded to get out of the car and get on one knee (in the road/gutter I might add) and propose! I was shocked! I definitely wasn’t expecting it!

I absolutely LOVE my ring. It is so so so so pretty. There was a lady at work today who even asked me if I wanted to switch rings for a day because it is so beautiful—of course I refused ☺. Above is a picture, but it doesn't do it justice, so just know it is EVEN MORE stunning in person! When we do get married, there will be two matching pauve bands on each side. (So three pauve bands with a round diamond in the middle).

I wanted to do things in order, so we haven’t made any plans yet. We don’t’ know when we are getting married (probably in March) and we don’t’ know where quite yet (although it will be in Utah). We will hopefully have a date by this weekend. I am so excited and so happy!

Puppies

Shauna... you will love this post.

So this weekend, I did a lot of thinking about how much I want a dog. My imagination started running wild with the thought of having a puppy of my own. It didn't help when I was actually at the book store and came across countless numbers of books... all devoted to the most adorable dogs known to man kind. All I really know right now is that I want a really cute and really small dog. I am so excited that I will actually be able to have her. I will get to play with her, and take her on walks, and cuddle with her as I watch a movie. Doesn't that sounds like fun? Only problem is that it won't be for a few years. Sigh... I guess I can just dream for now though. Above is an example of a dog that you will find in my house when you come and visit me in a few short years. Isn't she so cute? I can't wait. I literally can't wait.

Tagged...

1. I absolutely love... the fact that I am not going to school next semester. I didn't really get a summer vacation since I was working, going to school and working some more. This semester has pushed me over the edge! I am so excited for next semester when I get to shut my brain off at 5 and actually enjoy my evenings. However, don't think I am going to be like a total slacker... I am going to be changing jobs (hopefully!) and will be doing almost a mini-internship. So I will basically be learning a lot of stuff on site, rather than in school. Also, I hope to take some online classes, learn HTML (something I have to learn for my major), actually cook food atleast 6 days a week, and pick up jewelry making again. Man, this is going to be GREAT! I am already ready for this time to come!

2. I don't care if...snow didn't exist in the valley. I hate driving in the snow. Most of all, I hate walking in the snow. I hate walking to class and getting my pants soaked up to my kneecap and my shoes filled with cold, slushy water. Worst. Feeling. Ever. I think the snow is beautiful... and if I could sit in my house all day sipping hot chocolate looking at it, I maybe wouldn't mind it. But I can't do that... I have other things to do and it JUST GETS IN THE WAY. I wouldn't mind if it just stayed in the mountains. That way, if I wanted to go sledding or something, I could... although that is rare.

3. I like to...cook. I especially like cooking for others. If I had unlimited funds and time, I would do it all of the time. I love having people over for dinner. I also like to make dinner for those who really need it too (if they are sick, busy, etc.). I hope that one day I can do this all of the time. Then maybe I can actually get really good at it.

4. I play...on rare occasions. School and work pretty much take up all of my time, so I have had to find ways to play during work and also while studying. Somehow, I am still productive... for the most part.

5. I have a horrible habit of...being indecisive. I hate making decisions, especially when other people are involved. The hardest decision for me is honestly like picking somewhere to eat. I always just want the other person to choose, but if I don't like it, I will let them know. I am like the pickiest indecisive person ever... ok not really, but I hate making simple decisions like that. :)

6. I love to...be with my family. I have hardly had any time to spend with my family this past year. I am really excited for Christmas this year because we will all be together again! I keep thinking about our Christmas in Mexico and how much fun we all had together and I CAN'T WAIT until this Christmas when we get to do it all again (minus
Mexico:( ).

I tag... Nicole, Landon, and... anyone else who hasn't already been tagged!

SICK!

It seems like I have been sick for a REALLY long time. It is almost like I can't remember the last time I was healthy! I just keep going from one thing to another. First it was breathing, then the car wreck, then a cold, then coughing, then the flu, then more coughing. I think I have had a cough for like three weeks now. I am so sick of being sick!!

Not only me, but Jordan keeps catching things too. He has had the stomach flu, migraine headaches and now the body flu. We just can't seem to get better! It's funny though because we never really catch what the other has... except this last time. We are lucky with that though... even though we just end up catching something else.

It is funny how different each of us likes to be treated while we are sick. When I am sick, I love someone to be right there holding my hand, taking care of me and comforting me. Jordan however is no where near the same. I want to be able to help him. I want to make him soup, rub his head, get him medicine... I want to be able to make him better! He doesn't really want my help though. In fact, I am pretty sure he would just prefer that I just leave him alone and sit on the other couch. And while I want someone to be there sitting by me at all times while I am sick, Jordan would prefer to just have me take him home. I guess I am just a girl, and he is just a boy.

Happy Halloween

The Halloween Cruise

This Halloween was not very eventful this year. I have decided that Halloween is pretty pointless for someone in my position. I don't like scary things. I don't particularly care to dress up. I don't go to parties. I don't have children to take Trick-or-Treating.

This Halloween consisted of many exciting activities. I first went to work where they were having a costume competition. We were told that there was going to be one winner who would win $100, dinner for two and movie passes for 2. Jordan and I were planning on coming up with something clever because we had to win. Well, time got the best of us and we both went costume-less. When they were doing the judging, the owner announced that there would also be runners up. The grand-prize winner was a Real Estate Agent which was actually really funny and creative considering where we work. The runners up? Second place (and winning $100!) DARTH VADOR! I couldn't believe it. I am pretty sure I could have come up with something a little better that day. The other winners were a cow and an expired listing (once again, something to do with our work.) Of course on the day of Halloween, everyone was telling Jordan and I what we should have been. That was helpful.

After work, we went to class and then came home and made chicken soup and cornbread. We couldn't even clean the kitchen though because our drains appear to be clogged so the sink is full of dishes...and water. It's great. After dinner, I plopped down on the couch and wrote two papers and prepared to take a quiz. What a great holiday! I love school! (P.S. That was sarcastic)

However, I guess we did have a Halloween-ish activity earlier in the month. A few of my friends got together a few weeks ago and went on a "Halloween Cruise". It sounded like a lot of fun and my imagination was running wild with the possible things that could happen on this cruise. Well, I might have come away a little disappointed. The cruise was for small children and couldn't scare a baby. It consisted of a ride on the Provo River and "captains of the ships" who would rarely stay in character. As we were trying to play along and answer questions, they would just scoff at us and make us feel stupid. The ship was, however, taken over by a pirate. She was supposed to come out of the woods on a rope and land on the ship. Well, she left a little early and had to end up swinging back to the shore. By the time she attempted it again, we were too far away from her. So she just had to get on a little raft and come and "take over" our ship (aka tell lame pirate jokes). It was fun! I guess that is just what I get for making no effort though. Maybe next year!

Las Vegas Trip

I have been so busy with work and school that I haven't been able to post anything for awhile. It is funny because I always get so angry when other people don't update their blogs. I am so selfish. :)

About two weeks ago, my friends and I went on a little road trip down to Las Vegas for the BYU-UNLV game. 5 people packed in a car is always fun--or something like that. Of course there was the routine fighting of who should get to sit in the front seat. Seeing as Jordan was driving, I felt that it was my right to sit in the front seat. I can feel justified with that, right? Apparently not... But after all was said and done, the trip was really fun. We stayed with Jordan's sister Megan (thanks!) while we were down there. Her little boys are so cute and they really liked the company.
In front of the Bellagio watching the fountains. Unfortunately someone had to take the picture, and for some reason, that lucky person was Jordan. And mine and Eric's heads are not resting together... he put his head next to mine right as the picture was taken.
This is us near the field after the game. As we were walking down there, Tara found $20. Apparently she thought we all saw it but just walked by. Trust me, if I see $20 on the ground, I am going to pick it up.
Before the game, we stopped by the ESPN Zone and played a few arcade games. This is me after beating Jordan at his own game. I could have done it one-handed, but I wanted to go easy on him. *YAWN* But seriously, I did beat him and I didn't even realize it until the end. It was awesome.
Jordan's nephews playing in the arcade. They had a lot of fun. Best thing about it: I don't think we spent a single dime on them--they just played the preview for the games over and over. They didn't know the difference though, so everyone won.
Naughty naughty... Tara lost $3 gambling and Michelle lost $5. Michelle was up to a whopping $10.80, but since she isn't 21 Tara refused to cash out for her. She said that it wasn't worth the trouble to make $5.80... I disagree.
I love this picture. Jack absolutely adores Jordan and was really sad when he left. I guess that just means that we will have to take more road trips. Darn.

Hooray for ME!

Last month I sent in my application to become a Public Relations major. I was really nervous about it because there is only about a 60% acceptance rate and that number decreases every semester. I tried to prepare the best I could, but my non-pre-requisite grades were not the best. I had good grades for my classes that really mattered, but those stupid generals were cramping my style. After I submitted my application, I had to go to an interview to see if I qualified. I didn't really prepare for the interview, but I figured it would be the same as any other interview--tell us about yourself, why do you want to be in this major, what will you have to offer, etc. WRONG! I went into the interview feeling a bit rushed (I was running late) and then was slapped in the face with the interview. Rather than being a typical interview, it was like a test! What did this term mean, what is an example of recent PR that was poorly handled, etc. I was shocked. I hadn’t even thought about that stuff for months, let alone prepared good answers to determine my fate. At the end of the interview, my interviewer even asked, “Are you doing ok?” Oh. Fabulous. Even my interview could sense my anxiety! I didn’t really feel that confident and started to just accept the fact that I wasn’t going to get in. I started planning to apply again. Last Friday was the day that we could pick up the acceptance/denial letters, but I decided not to pick them up because I didn’t want the letter to spoil my weekend. I figured I could go on Monday, but it would be such a hassle to have to go all the way to the middle of campus on my lunch break. I actually completely forgot about it until Jordan texted me and asked if I got in. I finally was able to walk down to the building to get my letter. I was too nervous to even open it. It was really light and seemed empty. I thought that must have meant that I didn’t get in since they didn’t really have any information about it. But I finally gathered the courage to open it and it said,

“Dear Kristine,
Congratulations! You have been admitted to the Public Relations program in the Department of Communications.”

My heart nearly dropped to the floor. What a relief!!! The only downside was that I was completely by myself and had no one to rejoice with! But who cares! I am in! WAHOO!

I Have My Nieces to Thank

When Hallie was first learning to talk, she could say some names so easily... mostly just Hannah. Well wanting to be the favorite aunt (which of course comes without trying), I decided that I had to have Hallie learn my name. However, Kristine isn't exactly the easiest name for a baby to say when they can barely say Mama or Dada... so I came up with a simple solution--I would provide them with an easy nickname--Teen. Simple enough, right? A baby can say that simple word, right? Wrong. What I ended up with is the rest of my family calling me Teen and the nieces attempting to call me Kristine.

Well, because of the young age of the babies, a few interesting names for me have surfaced. Laine has always attempted a few of my favorites. For a few months, she attempted my name and said "Ash-een". Well, the family felt it necessary to call me that as well... I guess just not to confuse her or something. So for a few months, I was either known as Teen or Asheen. Well since Laine's words are becoming a little more clear, my new name for the past few months has been "Ker-sheen". So once again, the family made the change and started to call me "Kersheen", "Asheen" or stayed with the classic "Teen" (You can check Natalie and Nicole's blogs for proof :) )

So the other day I was just sitting there and all of the sudden Jordan called me "Kersheen". It kinda caught me off guard and he could kinda tell that I thought it was kinda funny, so he has continued to call me "Kersheen" at ANY given opportunity. And he thinks it is soooooooooo funny when he does. So thanks to my nieces, I now answer to basically anything that has an "een" sound to it.

Update

I forgot to mention a little update on the crash. Jordan and I are both feeling pretty good. Jordan was a little sore the day of the accident, but had little pain the next day. I didn't ever really wear my neckbrace because I felt like an idiot. I was on Lortab all of Saturday where I slept through a football game in a room full of rowdy boys and then also took some on Sunday. I was literally asleep in church. I tried to stay awake with all of my might, but my eyes were rolling back into my head, so I laid on my roommate's lap and slept through Sacrament Meeting and Sunday School. I came home and slept from like 1-4 and then laid on a couch for the rest of the day sleeping in and out. I don't think I have ever slept more in a two day period in my entire life. I had to go off the medication Sunday night because I had work the next morning, but ended up going home early because I was completely useless because I was still groggy. :) I am still pretty sore and get worn out easily, but we are just happy that our injuries were few!

We don't really know what is going to happen with Jordan's car, but we are hoping that it is totaled because it will probably have a ton of problems if they have to try and fix it. But with three damaged panels, and a crack in the roof or rear windshield (I can't remember which), I am sure they will total it.

Thanks to everyone for calling and checking up on us. It really meant a lot!

Golfing... Always Room for Improvement

This past weekend (pre-wreck), we went golfing with Ben and Nat. It was fun to say the least. I decided to save myself from embarrassment and just drive the cart. And if I may say, I did a superb job at that! Jordan and I went straight from work so I was wearing some nice jeans and heels. I was expecting Natalie and Ben to make fun of me until the days end... but I was wrong. Natalie showed even more overdressed than I was! Who says you can't golf in designer jeans and stilettos?
(Sorry, I can't figure out how to rotate them! I have been trying for the last like 20 minutes and can not for the life of me figure it out. Please help!)

Anyway, so Nat whips out her stylish pink golf clubs and was forced to change shoes (pokey heels are not the best for the green.. although the golf course would have received free aeration:) ).
I thought that she was going to do horrible, but she did have a bit of skill. Ben and Jordan seemed to be enjoying themselves, although Ben was sometimes hitting about the same as Natalie was (sorry Ben).

I was perfectly happy with just driving the cart until Natalie insisted that I get out and try her amazing golf club. I looked like a fool and missed the ball like a zillion times, but then Jordan told me to aim for the ground. At first I thought, "Why in the heck would I want to hit the ground... that is going to get me absolutely nowhere." But then I really tried it and was able to hit the ball. The first time it went a meager 5 feet, but then I just kept hitting it and finally was able to get it to like 30 feet. I rock.
Nice form huh?

We saw some deer on the golf course and Natalie wanted to go up to them to see if they would say hello to her... as you can see from the picture, they were not so keen on the idea.

All in all, it was a fun time. Maybe next time I won't be so embarrassed and I will try to hit at more than 2 holes. :)

Oh... I also doubled as a flag girl. What would they have done without me?

All We Really Wanted Was Some Breakfast

Jordan and I had made plans on going to get a delicious breakfast this morning. I was so excited cause I was so hungry, so I spent very little time getting ready... as did he. We pretty much looked like a few bums. He came to pick me up at about 11 and kinda started a weird way to the place. We were just driving along minding our own business when we see a car approaching the right side of our car. Next thing we knew, we were hit really hard and the car was spinning out of control. Some girl had ran a stop sign and T-boned the car. She was clearly speeding and wasn't making any effort to stop. A witness said she hit us so hard that it sounded like it was some sort of explosion. Jordan and I were pretty shook up. We ended up facing a completely different direction than we had been driving. The other car T-boned us on my side and the back passenger door was pretty dented in. Even my car door was slightly dented in. I was offered a ride to the hospital in the ambulance because my neck was hurt pretty bad. I didn't really want to go because I didn't really think it was necessary. After more than an hour on the scene of the accident, we were finally able to go home. We stopped and got a different breakfast and then headed to the emergency room. Man, that took FOREVER! I think we were there for like 3 hours. It was a lot of waiting. They gave me this weird neckbrace that was super uncomfortable and I had to just sit there. I couldn't really lean my head in any direction because the stupid neckbrace would like choke me or get really uncomfortable. They did some X-Rays and gave me some Lortab. The doctor said that I have a neck sprain or something like that. I already know that I am just going to have a horrible time with this because of my prior neck pain. It was like I already had pain and this is just not going to make it any better. Although it is no fun to experience it, I feel so blessed that we were just a little ahead of her. Had she hit us a split-second earlier, I think I might have been a little more mangled. So I guess we should consider ourselves lucky. As for Jordan's car, we are pretty sure it is totaled. It makes me sad cause I really liked that car! Hopefully he can replace it with one just as nice. :)

A close up view... We couldn't even put the car back into park, so there is quite a bit of damage underneath the car.

Jordan insisted on taking a picture of me in the hospital so we can always remember how dreadful I looked. Notice the fashionable neckbrace. It goes great with my inhaler.

*Sorry if there are mistakes in the post or if they are a few grammatical errors. I am writing this while laying on my bed drugged up on Lortab. :)

It's Official...My Feet Hate Me

Yesterday was one busy day! I went to work wearing dressy stilettos—which is definitely nothing out of the ordinary. That afternoon on my lunch break, I had to run to campus for an interview to see if I can get into my major. Well, after only leaving myself about 45 minutes to eat lunch, get ready for the interview and then go to campus for the interview, I found myself a bit pressed for time. I really ran into trouble when I realized that my legs had about 5 days worth of hair on them—definitely not acceptable for an interview. So I rushed to completely change my outfit, shave my legs, and eat lunch with about 10 minutes to spare. Only problem—there was no where to park near the place I had to be. So I parked at the bottom of a hill and had to climb multiple flights of stairs. I kept looking at my watch (aka, my cellphone) to see how minutes I had and they just kept ticking away. Note to self: Walking fast in stilettos is not the best idea. For one, my feet were KILLING me and two, I probably looked like a fool since I already struggle walking in them when I am walking at a reasonable pace. So needless to say, I ditched the heels and literally ran across campus. I barely made it there in time, but I was seriously sweating and out of breath—the perfect way to enter an important interview. I went back to work and then had to go back to school a few hours later, but once again, found myself rather behind. So once again, I was trying to walk really fast in my stupid shoes. I blame my being late on the heels. After class finished, I had to walk downhill in the shoes which only caused my entire foot to be wedged in the itty bitty tip of the shoe. I was in so much pain that I was literally counting down the steps to my car. I had no idea how many, but I just tried to take a guess. I can only imagine the grimaced look I had on my face. Why I keep paining myself to “look good”, I don’t know…

Our fun UCLA trip

A few weekends ago, Jordan and I went to Los Angeles with two of his friends for the BYU-UCLA game. What an adventure! I guess because I don’t have brothers, it was a bit of a culture shock for me! I am definitely not used to living with boys, let alone three of them! Being the only girl was a bit difficult at times, mostly when it came to getting ready for the day. One of the boys didn’t have any sisters and apparently didn’t realize the great lengths that girls have to go to to look good. ☺

We left on Thursday night and stayed with Jordan’s sister in Las Vegas. I was lucky enough to get his nephew’s bed because I guess the little boys came downstairs very early the next morning so the big boys woke up to a cartoon character singing, “There’s a party in my tummy. It’s so yummy! It’s so yummy!” Apparently no one wanted to leave me out of the fun so a few hours later, I woke up to the same exact thing. The big boys stormed into my room, throwing the little kids on me and singing it as loud as they could. That was fun. The next day we headed down to L.A. and spent the day with Hunter’s (Jordan’s friend) friends and family. We were originally supposed to stay with Hunter’s friend, but discovered they didn’t exactly have room for us. There were 8 guys living in a 4 bedroom house.. plus the 3 boys I was with and then me. There were ants all of the house and there really wasn’t a place for us to sleep…. So we just decided to get a hotel for the night. The next day we had a quick breakfast with Jordan’s dad and then it was off to the game! I was able to see my little sister Hannah, but that only made me more homesick! ☹ It was fun to see her though. She is all grown up and it was kinda weird! The game was a little ridiculous and we got pretty ripped off, but it was still fun. That night we drove back to Jordan’s sisters house. We were exhausted. The next day we went to church with their family and then headed home! Although we didn’t win the game, it was still fun to get away for a few days.

They grew to love each other from all of the time they spent in the backseat.

Jordan and I after the game... it was a tough loss. I think Jordan had to really struggle to give a smile. :)

Blog Make-over!

I really need a new format for my blog. Can we say BORING? Anyone who wants to teach me code or something or who knows of a site, please let me know. :) And p.s. I really really need a new name for my blog. That name came from one really boring day at a trucking company. :)

My New Best Friend

So I am officially the biggest nerd ever. The other day I went to the doctor because of some recent breathing problems and chest pains and came away with non other than an awesome, bright red inhaler! I hate it so bad! First of all, I don’t even think that I have asthma. I have just felt a little short of breath lately and also have this weird pain in my chest randomly. It usually occurs at night, but it has recently started happening earlier in the day. I would say the feeling is like when you lay on your stomach for a long time and then get up and your ribs are all compressed… well I randomly get that when I am just sitting there and it has moved from my ribs to my chest. It is great fun! So I got this inhaler on Monday and my doctor was pretty vague about when to use it. He just said to use it when you feel like you need it. I started to use it every 6 hours like he wrote on the prescription, but I discovered that this wasn’t really working. I guess I am only supposed to use it when I have an asthma attack. Since I don’t really know what an asthma attack is (seeing as I am new to this whole not being able to breathe thing), this makes it a little difficult to know when to take it. I just started to take it when I had the pain in my chest, but sometimes the pain will be back within about an hour. So I called the nurse today and she said that I was only supposed to use this inhaler when I was having an attack (OH!). So I have to go back in because it sounds like I don’t have asthma. I go to the doctor tomorrow and hopefully they will be able to figure out what the heck is wrong with me! I guess I might have taken breathing normal for granted…

You don't live here, so please don't tell me what to do.

So I just moved into my new apartment a few days ago (after being homeless for about 10 days!) and it is quite interesting. The people who lived here before got married about a month ago and they were supposed to be out by the fifteenth. Well, I moved in and they were still here. I didn't really think too much of it since her little sister lives here as well. So I was asking the marrieds where they live and they were like... well, that is what we wanted to talk to you about. Huh. Apparently they can't move into their new apartment for another week or so, so they asked if they could just continue to live here for that time. Again, huh. Of course I didn't want to be all dramatic about it so I said that was ok. Luckily they are two floors below us so it isn't like we share a bathroom or something... or walls for that matter. It is annoying though cause it definitely feels like we are living in their house rather that them living in OUR house. Actually, the married woman feels like she can actually boss me around. My friend Ben was over here the other day and he parked in one of our spots and as we were all leaving and getting into Jordan's car, she came outside and was like, " Um, excuse me, who's truck is that?" To which I replied, "Oh, that is my friend Ben's." Then she was like all snobby and said, "Well from now on, can we have visitor's park on the street so the residents can park in their spots?" I just wanted to say, "Oh... you mean residents like you perhaps?" Of course, I didn't want to start drama so I just appologized and said that we would from now on. I got in the car and I was furious. Cause of course since she lives there and such and like pays rent, she feels like she can tell me what to do? I think not. I really hope they move soon so I can like actually live in my apartment and such. All of my kitchen stuff is like in boxes still cause they haven't managed to move all of thier crap out. The fridge is full of disgusting, rotten food and the freezer honestly smells like poo. All of their wedding gifts are in the kitchen and their food in the pantry. It is really cool that I have to feel like I have to stay confined to my bedroom. Awesome. It amazes me that they could be so rude to us when we are doing them a HUGE favor! I mean, they would be homeless without us.. not to mention we could get her husband kicked off the footballl team for staying here. I suppose I am a big enough fan that I wouldn't want to do that. Ugh... hopefully things improve soon!

Hooray for New Years!

Wow... that title is decieving. I am actually not a fan of the over-hyped New Year's Eve. I personally think it is extremely overrated. There are distinct requirements that must be met in order to have a good New Year's Eve holiday.
1-It must be on a normal day of the week
2-There must be a fun activity to go to
3-Fun friends must be in attendance
...None of which were fulfilled this year. Yep, another lame New Year's Eve goes down the drain. My holiday was spent sitting around with my family... well sort of. My dad left to walk the dogs, my mom went to bed, my older sister was chatting on the phone with her friend and my little sister was sitting on the couch watching "Meet Me in St. Louis". At 10:30, I finally told myself I had had enough and called one of the few friends I have out here. She informed me of an AWESOME (aka, not awesome) YSA activity that would be taking place. I thought, hey beggars can't be choosers, count me in. Immediately after I had committed, I regretted my decision. As we pulled up to the house, I saw many cars and thought that maybe it wasn't going to be as bad as I thought. Well, I was wrong. We got in the house and it appeared that everyone had driven seperately (I could have sworn some of them even brought two cars!). There was a small group of no more than 12 people sitting around watching "Return to Me". Yes, this was how they were spending the start of the New Year. I knew that I should have come up with some kind of sign to leave. We finally got some people to play a card game... but that only lasted so long. Finally the 5 minute mark came and we started to get our sparkling cider ready. Well, the ball dropped and by 12:09 that house was vacant. Yes, it ended that fast. I then found myself going to my friend's house where we played Murder in the Dark and Cherades until about 2:30. Oh and did I mention that the people we were playing with were ages 7-15? Yeah... New Year's Eve rocks.
