Jordan's Graduation

Since we got married 3 years ago, I have been looking forward to this day!  Not many know this, but when he was in High School, he didn't even take the ACT/SAT because he wasn't planning on going to college. He is the first in his family line to ever graduate, so it is a major accomplishment!

We were lucky enough to have LOTS of family in town for the festivities.  UVU does both their commencement and convocations on the same day. The first ceremony was almost two hours long and the next one started 30 minutes later. I won't lie, graduation ceremonies kind of bore me so it made for a LONG day!

Thanks to Shauna for lightening this for me. It's pretty hard to get a picture from 30 rows up in the dark!

Me and my sis Kate waiting for the ceremonies

Our nephews, Jack and Lincoln, stayed sane by playing their DS... I was a little jealous at some points that they had this to keep them entertained!

Jordan and I. Yay! All done!  I am bummed that it was FREEZING this day (in fact, it snowed) because all of our pictures had to be inside!

Me, Jordan and his mom, Amy. She made the trip all of the way from California to see her baby boy graduate.

I am so proud of Jordan for finishing school and thankful for everyone who made such an effort to come up to support him!

32-34 Weeks

32 weeks
  • My doctor appointments are every other week now. I guess this is getting real now!
  • I have been really anxious with some big life changes recently. When I get anxious, the poor little guy gets the hiccups. I seriously feel so horrible every time he gets them! Must learn to relax. The good news is that my blood pressure is completely normal so I know he's just fine.
  • He really does love to be in my ribs. Before it wasn't a super common occurrence, but now it seems like right where my ribs meet is his favorite spot. Just today, he was kicking/punching/wiggling (who knows) my lower side, but part of him was in my ribs. So with every jolt, I got a nice little jab.
  • Boy clothes are SOOOOO hard to find (compared to girls where you can find something cute anywhere, anytime). I'm very picky about clothes, but I think I have found some cute stuff lately. I keep thinking how cute they are now, but they will be even cuter in 2 months when he is actually IN them.
  • I'm measuring right on time, so it looks like my fear of having a giant baby isn't completely true!
  • I think I pee about 3-4 times a day. And somehow, even though I don't drink a ton at night, I pee 3-4 times a night. How does this make sense?? Where is all of this water being stored?
33 weeks
  • I think that my body really is adjusting to getting less sleep.  I don't feel as much of a zombie throughout the day. But boy oh boy, when about 4 pm hits, I feel like I am so tired, I am going to die. I start yawning like crazy, my eyes start watering and bedtime cannot come soon enough! Problem is, when about 9 pm rolls around, I get my second wind. It's pretty annoying.
  • My flexibility is slowly disappearing - not that I was flexible before, but I can barely maneuver my body to be able to reach my feet. Painting my toes is out of the question (and if you know me, I HAVE to have painted toes). Luckily my mom was in town and she painted my toes right up for me. It's only a matter of time until I am begging Jordan to do the job for me... unless someone else volunteers? Anyone? Anyone?
  • Still getting some huge movements. My entire stomach will be moving all around. But I am pretty sure I am the only one who has witnessed it because every time I go to record it on my phone or tell someone, he stops. He's a shy little boy!
34 weeks
  • I am starting to get swollen. Each night when I take off my ring, it seems to be a little tighter than the day before. When I put on my shoes this morning, I could tell they were a little tighter too. Noooooo! I was really hoping I was going to be able to avoid this symptom.
  • I only have about three more weeks of full time work. It would be an understatement to say that I am counting down the days.
  • Even though I haven't gained a ton of weight, I can definitely feel the difference of those added pounds. Rolling over in bed is like a chore and getting up off the couch takes so much effort! Before when I walked in my kitchen, it would just be footsteps. Now, I can hear all of my pans and dishes rattle on the shelves. Mildly depressing (I know weight gain is a good thing).
  • I think I am finally starting to feel like "myself" again.  Who would have thought the third trimester would be my best? I am not jailbound by the need to eat every 1.5 hours which has been awesome! I am slowing getting back to cooking meals and enjoying food again. Before, when I would attempt to cook, I would usually end up feeling so nauseous that Jordan had to take over or I would throw up (in the kitchen sink no less).

    Phillip Island

Our next adventure landed us a few hours away from Melbourne on Phillip Island. This was definitely our most eventful day and most "Australia-like"

On our way down, we stopped at Caldermeade Dairy on the side of the road. They had lots or animals that you could just walk right up to and pet. Case in point:

The cutest little baby goats ever. I kind of wanted to take one home.

Next up, pictures of us as Kangas and Joeys.  They had other fun activities like sheep herding. It was a scene directly out of Babe (minus the pig) with a little sheepdog courting the animals around.  Very Australian country like.

Before heading over to Phillip Island, we made one more stop to eat lunch on the beach.

Please note our $4 bottle of coke in the above picture

Brothers. Cute that they have matching stunna shades.

We finally made it to the Adventure Park where we were able to see all kinds of cute Australian animals.

First up was the Koalas. They were super exciting to watch since they were all just sleeping. Apparently they sleep for like 20 hours a day (what a life!) or something like that.

Next up, we fed the Cassowary. Please enlarge that picture. It is honestly one of my favorites from the trip.

Feeding this huge bird was honestly TERRIFYING.

This next video is me feeding a Wallaby. I had heard of a Wallaby, but to be honest, I had NO idea what they even looked like. They kind of look like a mix between a rat and a kangaroo.

If you know Jordan, you know he HATES animals. There were all kinds of cute cuddly animals for him to snuggle up to, but for some reason he wanted to get close to these geese to take a picture. Geese are not nice!  Not even I would have gotten close to it.

And finally what everyone has been waiting for... Up close and personal with the Kangaroos

    Please note the Joey

    Hugs

I like animals, but I don't LOVE animals... especially wild animals. However,  I was brave enough to feed the Kangaroos. They are around people enough that I had nothing to worry about. They were so sweet!  This video is the first time I fed one. Gabe kind of steals the show on this one (watch closely to see why). If you watch one video, please let it be this one because I nearly wet my pants every time I see it.

Again, Jordan hates animals, so this was quite an accomplishment.

And don't be fooled by this sweet picture. It is really cute, but Jordan really just wanted to take the picture with Gabe so he could wipe the Kangaroo slobber on his shirt. I wish I was kidding.

The kiddies feeding a baby kangaroo

I love this video. My niece is the cutest.

We moved to another section of kangaroos. Apparently they can't live together because they are different breeds (who knew?!). These kangaroos wanted nothing to do with any of us. It was the strangest thing going from Kangaroos that would hop up to you to these that would run away if you got within 10 feet.

However, we did get just close enough to get this gem. Also one of my favorite pics from the trip.

We also saw some Dingos, but sadly I didn't get any pics (for fear of them stealing my baby, obviously)

We ended the evening at the beach before heading over to my sister's friends house for dinner.

Finally, we ended the night back at the beach for the Penguin Parade! (click here to go to their web site). Basically, we went to the beach and waited til the sun was almost down. Then, the world's smallest penguins (they were about a foot tall) make their way up the beach to reunite with their families. It happens every day, but most of the penguins have been gone for weeks on fishing trips. I have no idea how penguins understand the concept of time and know when to come back, but whatever, it made for a fun night. I tried to take some videos, but they are SO dark and my camera was dying. This is the best I could do

Now everyone wants to take a trip to Phillip Island, no?
