Anyone have an extra T-mobile phone laying around?

Once upon a time, Jordan's cell phone decided to just stop working. It all started with his decision to take the internet plan off of his phone. We were warned that taking off the internet could effect his phone... but we didn't really think that would translate to: If you take the internet plan off, the phone will stop working. It began with his phone resetting resulting in a loss of all his contacts. This only happened like three times... no biggie. Then over the Christmas vacation, the screen became so dim, that you couldn't really see anything, but if you tilted it at just the right angle, you might be able to catch a word or two. However, Sunday night, we were driving home and it made a noise and shut off. Lucky for us, it has never turned on again. We COULD go out and buy a new phone, but my contract with my family is up in March and his contract is up in June... so we don't really feel like buying a new phone to keep for the next few months and then paying for a new one with whichever new company we decide to go with...

Moral of the story: Does anyone have an old phone that they want to give us/let us borrow/let us buy for cheap? Sadly, only T-mobile phones will work, but if you have one, please let me know!

THANK YOU!

:(

Is there anything more depressing than it pouring snow during finals week while your entire family is on a cruise in the Mexican Riveria without you? Especially when you could and should have been with them? Too bad those stupid finals and work got in the way. I just need to stop thinking about what they are doing at each second of the day... or how much fun they are having without us.

I can't wait for this week to be over...

More Thanksgiving Fun

(Jordan came up with the title. Thanks)

I didn't want to have the longest post in the world last time, so I didn't post any pictures from the fun that we had with our other nephews, Jackson and Lincoln. We had so much fun babysitting and hanging out with them for a few days.

A few activities that we participated in were:

-Playing nintendo... at least a few hours a day. Jack LOVED to watch us play. He didn't really like playing by himself because he would get too frustrated with himself. He especially liked to play with Jordan cause he could beat the castles on Super Mario. If I died on one of those levels, he would say, "um, I think we need Jordan to beat it".

-Going to the Bean Museum. The boys had a lot of fun here. I didn't take any pictures because Uncle Jordan left the camera on top of the fridge earlier that day and forgot to put it back in my purse where it belongs :). The boys kept getting so excited and saying "Oh how cool!" It was so cute. I think they could have stayed there for hours... especially since there was a documentary about fish on the TV. They sat there for like 15 minutes just watching. Little boys are so weird.

-Getting WallE from the Redbox for free. When I told them that it was there, you would have thought it was Christmas morning. Jack insisted on holding the DVD case on the way home. They also watched the movie while looking at their WallE coloring book. I think they kinda like WallE.

-Wrestling. Everytime I turned around, they were wrestling. While they were watching TV, while they were eating lunch, while they were taking a bath. These little boys love to wrestle. My favorite was when I watched them from the mirror while doing my hair. Lincoln tackled Jack and they continued to wrestle, but kept their eyes on the TV the WHOLE time.

-Going to see their mommy at the hospital. They really liked the Christmas tree that was in a lobby and just loved to go and sit by it and touch the ornaments/lights/branches/everything in sight. They also were obsessed with the "spinny spin" doors (aka the revolving doors at the front of the hospital). Too bad this wasn't the actual door we had to go through, but just one that we passed on the way over. And yes, every time we passed it, they would beg to go through them.

The pictures tell the rest...

I said, "Look at me for a picture!" Lincoln decided to blow a kiss instead.

Helping me clean/cook. Thank you Uncle Jordan for putting that apron on Jack. It fit just right.

Going to visit his mommy at the hospital. When he saw that I had my glubs, he needed to wear Jordan's glubs. I am pretty sure all of his little fingers are in the palm section of the glove.

Our fun trip to McDonalds. For some ODD reason, they boys were only semi-interested in the smelly playplace. We got out of there fairly quickly by bribing them with these perfect-sized ice cream cones. The best 27 cents I have spent in awhile.
The little baby bird... isn't that what he kinda looks like?

After we went to Costa Vida, we thought it would be fun for the boys to play a little Air Hockey. Jack liked it... Lincoln couldn't really reach the puck (and Jack always hit it before he had a chance).

I think this picture of Jordan and Lincoln is so cute... even though neither of them are looking at the camera or doing anything that special. I just think it's cute.

We had so much fun with these little boys! We are excited to see the little stinkers again in a week or two... hopefully they still like us. Usually we are the "fun" aunt and uncle. But this trip we actually had to lay down the law... so we'll see.

Thanksgiving Weekend/Week

I know this is really overdue, but it has been a little busy around here...

We were lucky enough to spend Thanksgiving with Jordan's sister Megan (who lives in Vegas), her husband Justin, and their two kids, Jack and Lincoln. It wasn't necessarily a last minute thing, but with Megan being a little over a month from her due date, it was not "set in stone" until the week of Thanksgiving. We were so glad that Megan felt good enough to come up. They drove up Wednesday and got here pretty late, but Jack was still pretty excited to see Uncle Jordan. They were going to stay until Sunday morning so we had a good amount of time to spend with them.

I don't think that I have ever had so few of people around on Thanksgiving. I felt a little overwhelmed when I thought of cooking my first Thanksgiving meal, but then I realized that there would only be like four adults, so it wasn't bad at all. We only made the stuff that everyone loves...no cranberry sauce, stuffing inside of the turkey, etc.

I don't think that Jordan really liked the whole Turkey leg thing... in fact, I am pretty sure he threw it away shortly after this pic was taken.

Since we don't even have a kitchen table, we had to borrow one from our apartment complex and we set it up right in the middle of our living room. The plastic tablecloth gave it a nice touch.

Our beautiful feast

The meal was pretty good, but none of us were starving because we had been snacking all day. Justin thought it was a good idea to have dinner at like 6-6:30 instead of the traditional afternoon dinner so I just wasn't that hungry. I only had one serving of mashed potatoes... only my family will really realize how small that is...

This is how Jack spent a lot of his week.. playing Nintendo. Actually, he usually prefers to watch Jordan or I play. And don't even think about losing, because it will not go over well...

On Friday morning, Megan and I got up early to hit up Target to get her boys some Christmas presents. The sale wasn't that fantastic and I walked away empty handed. Megan wasn't feeling very good at this point, so we got some hot chocolate and headed home. When we got home, Megan REALLY wasn't feeling that good, so she and Justin headed to the hospital and Jordan had to head to work later that morning, so I played mommy for a majority of the day. Sometime in the afternoon, we learned that Megan was in labor and she was going to deliver that night! (C-section)

Sweet baby boy

It seemed UNREAL that it was happening. What's kinda funny is that we had joked about it happening before she came up saying "What's the worst that can happen? There is a hospital right around the corner!" He he ha ha, funny joke... And then it really happened.

I love this picture. It is so precious.

That night at 9:40, little Coleman Russell joined us at 6 lbs. 6 oz. Pretty good for a premie. Since he had a little trouble breathing, they put him on some oxygen and took him to the NICU. He was off oxygen the next day, but they estimated that he would have to be in the NICU for about a week. I guess they weren't going anywhere for awhile! We had fun with the little boys though. Since we only have a one bedroom apt, it was a little crammed, but surprisingly not too bad! Jordan's mom also came out from CA to help out with the boys since Jordan and I still had to go to school and work.

Proud auntie

Little Coleman was released from the hospital yesterday and it was so nice to hold him without all of the cords and wires everywhere. I couldn't put him down. I could have held him forever and not gotten sick of it. He is absolutely perfect and so itty bitty tiny.

Looks pretty natural, eh? Especially since that shirt makes me look like I have a leftover pregnant pooch.

They had to go back to Vegas this morning and it was so hard saying goodbye to the little guy! I could have kept him around a few more days... It is definitely a little quieter around here, but pretty lonely too. I must admit, it was kinda fun playing pretend mommy for a few days.

I loved watching Jordan hold him. I kept having Jordan hold him and it was so cute... and funny. The first time he held him, we put Coleman in his arms and Jordan said, "ok, now what?" Nothing... you just hold him. I think he passed him back to me within 30 seconds. He said he was bored. I did catch him gazing at Coleman a few times and I could tell that Jordan secretly wanted one of his own. If only.

Congrats Megan and Justin! He is so cute and so perfect! This is definitely a Thanksgiving that we will never forget! It was a very fun little adventure.

One Year Ago...

Don't we look so young in this picture?
Exactly one year ago, Jordan asked me to be the luckiest girl in the world and marry him! I can't believe it has already been a year. Time has just flown by! So here's a happy birthday to my engagement ring. :)

It's All About the Presentation

Jordan is such a funny, sweet boy. There have been a few times that I haven't felt very good at night and just don't really feel like cooking. Usually we would just go and grab a double cheese, but since both of these occasions fell on a Sunday, we stayed in and Jordan made dinner. I know, the Lewis' jaws probably just dropped to the floor. "What?! Jordan can cook?!" It's true. Usually he won't ever volunteer to cook, but if he has no other choice, he will break down and cook. He used to work at a restaurant and I am still waiting to taste some of that pizza he used to make. I guess these will have to suffice for now.

According to Jordan, it's all about presentation. Here are his dishes that he cooked and presented...

BBQ chicken and rice. When he brought it over, he had actually found this flower in a vase we had, and put it on the plate.
Macaroni and Cheese complete with garlic toast and a lettuce garnish.

He actually made both of these all by himself with very little help from myself. Such a funny boy...

For Mom

This video will take my mom back to her childhood days. I hope the rest of you will enjoy as well...if you don't, there is something wrong with you. I know it is kinda old, but I figured there were still a few who haven't seen it.

Happy Halloween!

Each year, my work has a creative Halloween costume contest. I didn't dress up last year and I regretted it. I didn't come to work this year dressed either. However, thirty minutes before the competition, I came up with a brilliant plan. SARAH PALIN. Problem was, my hair was down, I was wearing jeans and I wasn't wearing glasses. I hurried and called my friend and met up and got all of the needed supplies. The result:

The costume was pretty good for thinking, gathering and dressing in a half hour. It could have been a lot better if I had more time, but hey, beggars can't be choosers. My costume was complete with a REAL rifel and an NRA hat. However, I tied for third place. I guess I should have known when everyone else got the "joke" except the two judges. I seriously had to tell them who I was. Apparently these "judges" have been living on Mars for the past THREE MONTHS while she has been in the spotlight. The other two winners are in the picture below.

The winner? The kid in the blonde wig. Second place? The guy in the lab coat thingy. I tied with the "RedX Red-Headed Step-Child" aka the kid who has a paper pinned to his shirt (also keep in mind that we tied because the judges just couldn't pick which one they liked more). The reason why the other two won above me was because (direct quote from the bosses who chose the winners) "they were the most out of their comfort zone". Oh, yes, I forgot. This was a "who can be the most out of their comfort zone" competition. Not a most creative Halloween costume competition.

My mistake.

Now don't get the wrong impression. I am not like really mad about not winning. Had they just flat out said, we thought that your costume was the funniest or most creative, I would have been fine with that. I can handle having someone be more creative or funny than me. But don't tell me that they won because "they were more out of their comfort zone"--because both of them seemed perfectly comfortable with the zone they were in. In fact, they were LOVING it.

I guess next year I will have to really rethink my costume. Got it. I will just come without showering or doing my makeup because for me, that is out of my comfort zone. Or maybe I will just rummage through my attic and find the weirdest combination of clothes and throw them together (which is what the winner did).

For the record, I am not bitter at all.

Oh and did I mention that the winner won $100? Because they did. I walked away with $25 which is more than I came to work with... but still, that's $75 people.

I Want a House

We have been so fed up with our apartment lately. Our neighbors upstairs are SOOOO loud that I can hardly stand it. They sound like they are constantly stomping around up there and are up at all hours of the night (I have heard that at 2 am, I have heard them at 6am, get the picture?). Our house is teensy weensy itsy bitsy and we barely have room to live... seriously. I know this is just part of being a "newlywed" or whatever and I know there are "tough times" at the beginning of your marriage. But I am ready for those to be done and over with! Truth is, we aren't really struggling financially (knock on wood!), but we live in a little tiny place. And I am SICK of not having a washer and dryer. Do you know how disgusting those coin op places are? Sometimes thinking about them makes me want to gag. And sometimes I do.

One day we were just driving around and all of the sudden, we just started looking around at different condos and stuff and started playing the "what if" game. Could this work? What do you think? Is this stupid? And our minds began racing! For the past week or so, all I have been doing is looking on craigslist for the latest homes/condos on the market. Everytime I look at them, I can't help but think, I want that. BAD. I know it is a buyer's market right now. But who the heck just has $20,000 lying around for a down payment. Not me, I can tell you that much. For now, we are just skimping and saving our pennies and putting all of Jordan's reffing money and all of my cleaning money into our "home savings" account. (A few weeks ago, I discovered that I had about a thousand bucks in one of my accounts that I had forgotten about so we deemed this our home savings account). I just see all of these awesome condos on there and think MAN, THAT'S CHEAP! But we know that we are students and buying a home probably isn't the best idea right now.

Any advice on how I can get over being home-hungry?

Tagged..

Since my life is so boring right now and I have nothing to blog about, I figured I would give into the tagging. So here it goes...

Rules:
1.Link who tagged you: Cydney
2. List your quirks
3. Tag 6 other bloggers
4. Post the rules on your blog.

1. I HATE to be tickled. Hate. I know that this is probably a quirk for most people because I don't really know anyone that likes to be tickled, but I absolutely hate it. However, I LOVE to tickle/poke/annoy. Ask Jordan.

2. I hate being late and when other people are late... but mostly likely, I am always late. When I lived in CA for the summer a few years ago, I was not on time for work ONCE. I usually rolled in at about 7:11 or so... and that is a.m. so can you really blame me? I also currently work at 8 and the earliest I have been in since we moved back from Chicago has been like 8:06... I just can't get out of bed.

3. For the first few weeks we lived in our apartment, I found spiders in our shower ALL of the time. I get so scared now that I usually stand on our toilet, open the shower curtain and peek in and then SHAKE the heck out of the curtain to make sure that there are none hiding. I haven't found one for months, but I still do it all of the time. I think word must have spread back to the other spiders that the crazy lady will kill you if she sees you in the shower.

4. I will not walk on grass in the summertime because I am scared I will run into a snake. I take the sidewalk or some cement whenever possible. And if I HAVE to step on the grass, I run or am constantly alert about where I am stepping.

5. I brush my teeth in the shower. And wash my face. If I can't do them all in the shower, it messes me all up. Like this morning I had to take a quick shower because 1. I was late (see #2) and 2. I couldn't steal all of the hot water from Jordi SO I couldn't brush my teeth. I started brushing as I was getting out and it really messed me up. I basically was standing there trying to dry my hair/body while brushing my teeth. Let's just say it didn't work out so well.

6. I love robes. I would wear one everywhere if I could. I put it on right as I wake up in the morning and as soon as I get home from school/work. Last night one of our neighbors came over and I had just put my robe on over my clothes and bundled it up nice and tight. As soon as she left, Jordan said, "She probably thought you were naked under there." Whoops... note to self, make sure clothes are visible when you wear the robe where other people can see you or don't wear a robe where anyone will see you.

7. I never wear my hair in a pony tail unless I haven't washed my hair in a day or two. Since I have a little bit of useless curl/wave in my hair, there is no way I can just dry my hair, put it up and go. I have to do my hair completely THEN put it up. Seems like a waste of time if you ask me. I would rather wear my hair down if I am actually going to spend the time doing it. And naturally, I am extremely jealous of people who can make it look good. Oh how I envy you.

8. I still wear a retainer. No, not every day, but once every other week or so. I DO NOT want my teeth to grow back to the way they were before braces. (Enter scary 6th grade picture here. Yikes).

9. I always do my make up when I am sitting in my bed. Since Jordi never wakes up before me, he is usually still sleeping. I turn on the Today show, turn down the volume to a "9" and do my makeup while I relax under the covers. Since it is pretty dark outside when I am up, I seriously do my makeup by the light of the TV. Some of you are thinking "How rude! You turn on the TV and interupt Jordan while he is sleeping!" 1. He usually stays up with the TV on at night while I try to fall asleep (always unsuccessfully) so think of it as payback 2. He is quite the sleeper and can still sleep JUST fine with the glow of the TV on. Trust me.

10. I hate it when Jordan eats an "appetizer" before dinner. Like when I am in the process of cooking dinner and it is 5 minutes away from being done, and he whips out a bag of chips and parks it on the couch. I want him to fill up on the dinner I just slaved over! Not some chips that we picked up for $2.50 at the store. When we go out though, appetizers are just fine. In fact, the more you eat, the better cause then you will have more leftovers which mean less cooking for me.

There are probably loads more and my family will probably comment saying "You forgot this one controlling thing that you always do!" but these are all I could think of. Feel free to comment if you can think of anymore.

I tag: Katie, Nicole (since she NEVER writes on her blog anymore), both Natalie's, Tara (since she also never writes on her blog anymore), sis-in-law Megan and anyone else who wants to join in on the fun. It is kinda funny to see all of the weird things that people do and to document your own.

Good Idea / Bad Idea

Here are a few things that we have been up to lately...

Good idea: Driving to your office to clean in between session of conference. Since it is a little dim outside, you should probably turn your headlights on.
Bad idea: Forgetting about your headlights and leaving them on resulting in a dead battery.

Good idea: Getting your car jumped by AAA and driving it around for at least 30 mintues to let the battery charge.
Bad idea: Come home from driving/charging, shut the door and not realize that the seatbelt prevented it from closing all the way... resulting in yet another dead battery.

Good idea: Cooking dinner. Since you are kinda lazy and hate frying bacon, you should try cooking it in the oven because you have heard that works.
Bad idea: Being even more lazy and using a cookie sheet (that doesn't have sides) that you used the night before for fries.. this means you will have to do less dishes.

Good idea: Playing solitaire and watching TV while you are waiting for your husband to get home and for the bacon to fry.
Bad idea: Not realizing that the smell you are smelling is your bacon grease burning on the bottom of your oven and that your house is filling with smoke.

Good idea: Removing the bacon from the oven so it will stop filling up with smoke.
Bad idea: Thinking that all will be well if you just replace the cookie sheet for one that has sides resulting in A LOT more smoke and smell.

Good idea: Going to class, taking notes and studying for your test.
Bad idea: Reading too much into the test questions and getting tricked by every question... or that is what your score reflects anyway.

Good idea: Helping your husband with his math homework and encouraging him to study for his math test.
Good idea: Having your husband get 100% on that math test. GO JORDI!

You win some. You lose some.

Engagement Pics Take Three

Just kidding... but I don't really know what else to call pictures of couples without any children. Pretty sure most people don't usually go and get them taken. However, we were lucky enough to! My friend, Natalie, wanted some subjects to practice on and we were the ones chosen (aka I volunteered us). We found a pretty field that had a tractor in it and our pictures turned out awesome! Her and her husband are just starting to get more into photography and they are awesome at it! Check out their blog at www.fennphotography.blogspot.com. If you want pictures of your own, their contact information is on there too (kids, engagements, families, weddings, etc.). I highly recommend them!

This is my favorite.

Hey Everyone! Come See How Good They Look!

So when we first moved into our apartment... um 4 months ago... we got these chairs from my grandpa. Now if you had seen them then, you probably would have gagged. These were NASTY, RATTY chairs. He owns a bunch of rentals and I am assuming these were left behind. They were a rotten color and COVERED in stains. At first when he offered them to me, I wanted to decline cause what the heck was I going to do with these nasty chairs?! But then the wheels began to turn and I thought that perhaps I could give them a little make over.
This is after they were painted... or after the first coat I guess. The backs were a nice rusted, off white color. Beautiful.

Well they sat there for about four months. I painted the backs of the chairs when we first moved in, but they have just been sitting there since. I had high hopes of getting fabric and that took about three months. I finally picked some up at Ikea for $1.99 a yard. A few weeks ago, I dissembled them in hopes of one day completing the task, but again, they sat there.

FINALLY, last night I finished them! They look a lot better than I expected. Jordan kinda likes them too!
If you ever come and see them, don't look on the bottom... it was my first experience with a staple gun.

Assembling

Hooray! Not bad for my first time eh? Now we just need a table to use them with... first things first.

Silly Laine

So in my last post, I had a picture of me and my niece Hayden who wanted to show her styled hair to my other niece Laine, who lives in Australia. My sister, Natalie, showed the pictures to Laine and this is what she said:

"I showed the pic to Laine, and then she looked down and saw the picture of you, and here is what she said, 'I wish I could be like that someday' and I thought, oh, how sweet. So I asked her to what she meant, just to clarify, and she said, 'I wish I could be like Laine, like me'"

HA!

Since most of you don't know Laine, it probably won't be funny to you... But for those of you who do knows that this is only something we would expect from the little booger. I mostly posted it for my family so they could see what the funny girl said since most don't read the old comments.

California '08

I am a little late on posting about the California trip, but as expected, we have been having internet issues. Last week, Jordan couldn't sleep, so he came into the front room to watch TV and try to fall asleep on the couch. When he picked up a blanket from the corner of the room, he realized that it was completely soaked because our house was flooding. Fantastic. So when we woke up, we called the maintenance people who came and checked it out. Apparently there was a broken sprinkler and somehow it seeped through the walls or something into our house (our apartment is semi-below ground). We got it all cleaned up, but it appeared that our internet was effected for a few days. My guess is that the insides of the cable plug was wet or something, but one day it didn't work and the next it worked. I'll take it.

ANYWAY. Onto the trip.

I went out there for my friends Justin and Christiana's wedding. It was a very last minute trip since I decided to go on a Tuesday and left the next morning. It was so worth it though. It was great to be there for their special time and I am so glad that I went. I was really skeptical of going because I would miss three days of work (it was crunchtime since school was about to start and we were trying to save up as much money as we could) and this may sound dumb, but I just really didn't want to leave Jordan! Haha, I know, I am a dork. But this was our first time apart since we have been married. And this was for five whole days! I know, I am pathetic, but I got over it as you can tell.

They were married on Friday the 22nd in the Sacramento Temple. I have never been inside that temple, so it was awesome to be able to go inside.

Me and the bride. She looked stunning.
The bride's sister Oakley and I in front of the temple.
With the happy couple.

The other reason I went out was to spend time with my sister Nicole and her four kids. It was so much fun to be with them for a few days. They are so fun and never disappoint. They always love to get up at about 5 am and so they would come in my room and I would kindly ask them to just give me until 6:30 or 7:00. So if you think this was a relaxing vacation with sleeping in, you stand corrected.

One day I straightened Hayden's hair and she demanded I take a picture so Laine (her cousin) could see because she said that she looked like Laine with her hair done like that. (So Nat, if you could show this to Laine, Hayden would sure appreciate it.)
Classic Hayden smile. Such a funny girl.
Isn't he such a handsome little boy? This is our little Peter Pan (aka Jaxton) who refuses to grow up. I was loving the buzz cut that he had to get after Hayden played beauty shop on his hair--not while I was there.

Saturday, we went swimming at Nick's mom's house. We had a lot of fun although I wasn't really in the mood for swimming (even though it was my idea). The girls liked swimming though. They had fun playing ice cream shop, naked swimming and a racing (Hallie and Hayden). Hayden is such a good swimmer so I challenged them to a race. Hayden won (after a minor push from Nick) and Hallie FREAKED out saying that she cheated. I swear, that girl is premenstrual. Haha.
Hayden kickin' up those dogs.

Playing ice cream shop.

And no swimming trip would be complete without Hayden getting nakie and jumping in the pool.

All in all, it was a great trip and I am so glad that I decided to go.

I Think I Might Be Crazy

There is nothing I hate more than walking on campus along a lonely path (usually coming home from campus) and hearing rustling in the bushes. Like serious rustling. I can't help but wonder what the heck is in those bushes causing such a ruckus! I pray with all of my might that whatever it is that I am walking next to doesn't jump out and attack me... be it a squirrel, large cat, mountain lion, snake, lizard or what have you. And if you have read my blog or any of my sisters, you know that we are deathly afraid of snakes. DEATHLY. So I just try not to imagine the possibilities of what is in there and get out of there ASAP. So don't be surprised if you are walking behind me and you see me start randomly jogging past those scary bushes.

P.S. I am well aware that I haven't posted about my trip from CA. It is still currently a draft since I was almost done the other day and my computer had a minor malfunction. And I have been too lazy to write it again ever since.

Seriously?

Remember how I just finished talking about all of the bad luck that we are having lately? Well, I almost caught my office on fire. I am awesome.

I was going through my normal breakfast routine. Cereal and a pop tart. I put the pop tart in the toaster and went literally 10 steps away to talk to my boss. Usually the toaster will pop up after a minute and all is well. Well three or so minutes I turn around to see smoke coming out of the toaster like mad. I ran over there, popped it up, wrapped it in a paper towel, closed the break room door and ran it out to the dumpster. When I came back, the break room was all smokey inside and I didn't want to open the door. I immediately got the fans that we have, propped open the door and started spraying Febreeze everywhere. I am pretty sure I smell like a burned pop tart muffled by Febreeze. mmmmm.

And naturally, I didn't come away without an injury. In the process of removing the pop tart, the charred frosting (or whatever it is) was melted to my thumb. Now I have a nice, big, sore blister to always remember this experience by.

Yowza

So last night Jordan had two softball games. I just decided to come to one and so I chose the later one. I got there and the first thing I hear is "Your husband is hurt". What?! Apparently he was the pitcher and someone hit the ball aiming right towards him. Luckily it only hit him in the thigh and missed other parts in that area... like his... knee.

It was pretty swollen and was bruised right away. But in true Jordan fashion, he still played the second game and would just ice it between innings. I am actually pretty glad that I didn't see it because I can imagine that I wouldn't like it very much.

Would you like to see pictures of Jordan's upper thigh? Oh you would? Great.

The aftermath. Feel free to make fun of his socks and sandals. Also take note of the larger than a softball sized goose egg.

The day after. It is blurry, but the only way I could capture the beautiful colors was turning off the flash. I wonder where the ball hit him.

Is it just me, or are Jordan and I having amazing luck lately?

Emergency Poll

I know, wow, three posts in one day, but this is an EMERGENCY!!!!

I am getting my hair cut tomorrow (first time since... mmm.. January maybe?) at approximately 7 pm and I don't know what to do. I have been wanting to grow my hair out long because I have never had long hair and thought it would be kinda fun. However, my family always tells me to keep my hair short because I was blessed (more like cursed) with thin, fine hair. The best combination there is.

What should I do with my hair? Cut it into a dramatic A-line bob or keep growing it out and just get a trim with some nice layers?

I am putting my fate in my reader's hands...

Amazing

This was just too good not to share. It is Britney Spears really live. Soooo funny. I wonder why they never have her sing live...

I liked it so much, I watched it twice. My favorite part is the "Oops I did it again". Especially on the word above.... just watch.

I Never Want to Travel Again

So this past weekend, I went out to Sacramento to visit my sister and to go to my friend Christiana's wedding. The trip itself was so fun. It was so fun to see my nieces and nephews and to see Christiana and Justin get married!

However, the trip there and back... not so fun. It was mostly just the trip back. I went with a random group of people I knew through association with the bride and groom. Jordi was not in attendance.

There is nothing worse than traveling for six hours and realizing that you are only two hours away from where you originally left from. Seriously. We left Sacramento and had to pick up another one of the people in our group that lived two hours away. He said that from his house, it was shorter to get back to the 80 and that it wouldn't take us the full two hours to get back to where we needed to be. Apparently, from there, we were only 8 hours away from Utah.

We were tricked.

When we were about two or three hours away from where we picked him up, we started approaching a city. I asked him if this was Reno (praying that it wasn't) and he said that it was Carson City and that we wouldn't be going through Reno at all because the way were were going didn't connect through Reno. Fantastic! We are right on schedule.

Two hours later (and six hours into the trip), we started approaching another big city. As my mind was trying to think of where we could be, I realized there were no big cities in Northern Nevada... except for Reno. "Um, where are we?" "Oh, we're in Reno".

WHAT?! My heart nearly dropped to the floor. Six hours in and we are in RENO... which means that we still had 8 hours left in the drive. I seriously wanted to cry. Especially since we had left so early in the morning and I had high hopes of making it home in time for dinner.

All hope was lost when we pulled up to my house at 11. Yes, 14 hours after we left. The whole time we were driving, I kept thinking about how we should be four hours ahead of where we were. Ahhh, we should be in Wendover by now... Ahh, we should be home by now. Oh we still have four hours left actually. Grrr.

I am never going on a road trip again.

*Stay tuned for the happy highlights of the trip!*

Quote of the Week

We were doing the dishes this week when Jordan starts singing the Venus song from the Venus Razor commercial.

Jordan: I'm your fetus. I'm your fire. Your desire.
Me: Excuse me?
Jordan: repeats
Me: Fetus?
Jordan: Yeah, those are the words right?
Me: Um, no. Pretty sure it doesn't say fetus...

Never Again

Last Saturday, we went tubing with some friends. We had such a blast a few weeks ago, that we decided it would be fun to do down here in Provo. We got a group together and picked our tubes. Jordan and I thought that it might be a good idea to go in a raft. This wasn't one of those weak looking rafts--this was the Seahawk 2. I thought it would be fun to go down with Jordan so the tube seemed like a good option.

All started off well as we went down. We ran into a few rocks and Jordan's butt took the brunt of the hits. I couldn't help but laugh every time it would happen because he would say OW! so loud and get so frustrated. I tried to be quiet with my giggles. Soon enough, the ride was just kinda getting uncomfortable. Only the sides of our raft were floating (I think the bottom of the raft had deflated) which put us pretty deep into the water. Soon our raft starting filling up because of little rapids we would hit or just me leaning too far over the sides. So I had the brilliant idea of getting the water out with an empty pepsi bottle. I had just gotten all of the water out when we saw the rest of our group up ahead stopped.

They were warning us of THE BRIDGE. They told us to steer to the right because it was easier. Little did they know that I was a useless rower. No, not because I wasn't good, but because my ore was broken and would come untwisted whenever I put it in the water. So we approached said bridge, veer to the left, hit the wall and FLIP.

Naturally, we were both stuck under the raft with the strong current carrying us away. Oh? Did I not mention that we weren't wearing life jackets? Well we weren't. I was already uneasy about the idea and now when I was under this raft I was FREAKING OUT. Not over myself, but over Jordan. I had images of him getting knocked in the head and floating down the river, so I force myself out from under and just start freaking out. "Are you ok?! What happened?!" etc. All the while, our raft is still upside down and is now completely deflated. And we have a current to work with and it is sweeping us away fast. We can't put our feet down (we actually tried, but since the current was so strong, our feet would actually just get nailed my rocks. Yes it hurt) so we have to somehow drift over to the side to safety. We did, but in the process lost both of our flip flops (mine eventually drifted back to us as well as one of Jordan's), both of our ores and my sunglasses that I worked so hard for.

We ended up on the side of the river and there was a tall wall not allowing us to get out and walk. We would have to float the rest of the way down. So I had to completely blow up our raft again and Jordan found one of our ores... just our luck, the broken one. Right when we got in (after about 15-20 min on the side), we floated towards a rock and my butt hit it so hard, my leg went numb for a few seconds.

I was already done at this point (before the run in with the bridge, no pun intended) so I was not happy to hear that we were only half way down and still had another 45+ minutes to go. We made it, but not without some battle wounds. I came away with some really scary hair (trust me, everyone commented on it), a big sore spot on my bum from the rock, and a nasty goose-egg on my SHIN. Yes, my shin bone. It hurt so bad that I could hardly walk. I don't know how, but it still hasn't turned into a bruise a week later, but it is still really tender.

Can you see the bump? Jordan would be convinced that no one would be able to see it. Keep in mind that the shin actually concaves at that point in your leg.

When I asked Jordan what injuries he came away with, he said that he came away with emotional damage. I was thinking, "oh how sweet, he was worried about us and was traumatized", but then he said, "It's because I lost my flip flop". Don't worry, we have since replaced them with new ones.

Don't worry mom and dad, next time I will definitely wear a life jacket.

If there is a next time.
