I am glad we don't have to deal with shots this month. After I posted his 2 month post where I said he was sleeping ALL day, his sleeping habits completely changed. He went from sleeping about 6 hours at a time to being up EVERY.SINGLE. HOUR. He has never slept so horrible than the few days after those shots and he STILL isn't back to where he once was. It's hard to take major steps back! I guess we will still love him lots anyway...
A few things about Owen this past month:
- Nicknames: Buggie, Butterball, Little Boy
- Sleeps from about 9 pm til 3 or 4 (or sometimes 1 or 2). Then he wakes up every 1.5-2 hours after that. He comes into our bed at about 7 and then we both "sleep" (very lightly) until about 9-10. Which seems like a lot, but I am still only getting like 7 hours of very broken up sleep!
- He has started this awful habit of being very restless when I set him down in the middle of the night. I could be done feeding him within 15 minutes, but even if I sit there and hold him for a few minutes after he is done (and is sleeping), he often wakes up after I am back in bed so I am sometimes up for over an hour. In the middle of the night, he will really only go back to sleep nursing, so it's back to square one and I have to start the process allllll over again.
- His smiles are MUCH more frequent now. He is still usually the happiest in the morning and fussiest at night, but I am pretty sure that is typical. We both love getting him from his crib in the morning because he is SO excited to see us and gives us BIG smiles.
- He started laughing! (see video below). He has only done it a handful of times, but it is the cutest thing. The other day, he just got this laugh attack over nothing! I can't wait until this is a lot more frequent.
- Each morning (since he was a baby), I would put him up to the mirror. At first he just liked looking at the decorative edges of the mirror (typical), then he focused in on me and now he looks at himself. There have been a few times when I have put him up to it while he is fussing and he can't look at himself while crying. He will cry, make eye contact with himself and then stop crying, try to start fussing, but just can't do it. It's hilarious.
- He's starting to chunk up a lot! And he is still really tall. Everyone who sees him usually comments on how long he is.
- Blows lots and lots of bubbles and drools a ton.
- Another thing I could do without is he has started is arching his back! I can't stand it! I used to be able to just leave him sitting in his carseat unbuckled while I cooked dinner/showered/cleaned, but now he just arches his back trying to get out. He also often does it when he is eating.
- He is still just as active and wiggly as ever! He's almost too strong for his own good. If his foot catches something he can push against, he takes full advantage! He also has a grip like no other. He gets a hold of my hair and WILL NOT let go. Between losing my hair from hormonal changes to him pulling it out, I am lucky to have any left!
- He LOVES his fist. It's always in his mouth. In fact, he loves it so much, he will sometimes stop eating so he can suck on his fist. He loves chewing on two fingers at a time as well which usually results in him gagging himself. Lovely!
- He still gurgles a ton. It's not so much of a coo sound, but more like a Q sound. Sometimes if I whisper to him, he whisper coo's back.
- Still only sorta takes the binki. He will take it in the car or sometimes when I am holding him, but that's about it! He is also learning to really spit it out. He can launch that thing pretty far sometimes.
- He is so camera shy! He can be making the cutest faces/sounds, but the second I pull out my camera or my phone, he's blank.
yawn.
Don't be fooled - he isn't sitting up. He's just in the process of tipping over which is why this photo turned out blurry. I quickly rescued him before he knocked his face into the arm of the chair.
Smiley baby
Could he be pouting out his lips anymore?
Stare down.
Fingers in the mouth. Always.
A profile shot. Even if it is a furrowed one (and blurry)
We realize it isn't all butterflies and rainbows over here. So here's a pouty face for good measure.
Loooong boy
In his big boy bed
Still getting used to the bumbo. He likes sitting in it for about 5-10 minutes. Then I think his neck gets too tired and it sometimes gets stuck looking up. His new thing is also leaning all the way to the side (from the back arching), so he gets frustrated when he gets stuck like that too.
Still a stomach sleeper at naptime and swaddled at night
He started laughing over nothing
Proof that he is always moving

cute boy! i love it. also, in my humble opinion, you should stick to the binky thing. i don't think emmy really took it until she was about that age, and while she doesn't always have it in her face(usually only when she sleeps or sometimes as a plug at church), it sure is nice to have as an option. another REALLY useful part of it has been how it keeps her from eating gross things, like shopping cart handles or dirt when we are outside. anyway, it seems like you are having a great time with motherhood! i wish for you a good night's sleep in the near future to make it all the more sweet :)
So cute! Can't get over how fast he is growing and changing! Love how well you document everything! He is so sweet and you are such a sweet mother!
So cute :) It's so fun to see their personalities start to come out. And it's crazy how much they change in three short months. What a cutie pie little Owen is!
p.s sorry he is waking up so much at night again.. ahh!
What a cutie bum. We call Lincoln "Buggies" a lot. Kinda close to your nick-name. I can't believe he's already three months. Where has the time gone?
He is getting so big! Tell him to stop growing before we can get together for dinner again!
