I can't believe he is already a week old. Time has been going so fast and I always think about how he is never going to be as little as he is now. :( Here are a few things from his first week.
- Loves having his hands up by his face while nursing. In fact, he likes making fists next to his face, then open his hands, make a fist, etc. Or he likes digging his nails into his eyeball. I wish I could post a pic, but won't for obvious reasons :) He is so strong and active. He is constantly flailing his arms and legs. I need a pair of baby handcuffs because he always knocks himself off while nursing. He can hold his head mostly up. And his legs are so strong he practically kicks himself off me if I have him on my lap.
- Hates being confined. This makes going anywhere in the carseat a tad difficult. And although he hates it, swaddling helps him sleep SO well! I have had to wake him up in the night a few times. I know that sounds crazy but I am just a new paranoid mom.
- I am slowly learning that trying to do too much only causes more problems. We tried going to Target the other day and it ended with us both in tears! He was sleeping so peacefully and I figured we would be FINE, so we packed him up and were off. I ended up nursing on a motorized cart in the middle of the baby stuff! Quite the experience. He was finally settled down so we decided to leave and he cried way harder than I have ever heard him cry. Mother's guilt definitely settled in because I know I should have just stayed in. I have been going going going all my life with working and going to school so it is hard to realize I just had a baby and NEED to take a little break.
- Left him behind to run a quick errand and missed him SO much and was so anxious the entire time.
- We love waiting for those sweet accidental smiles. Can't wait until we get a real one that doesn't involve a dream about colors and clouds or whatever it is that babies dream of.
- I love his milk drunk faces. Breastfeeding hurts just as much as I have heard, but when I see his satisfied little face, I am reminded of why I put myself through misery! There have been so many times where I think I am going to take a break and give him a bottle for the next feeding, but then that time rolls around and I give in.
- He sleeps really well. It seems like he is always eating or sleeping. And if not either of those, he's crying because he wants to be!
- I don't really think he looks like either of us. Sometimes I see one and then two seconds later he will make a face that changes my mind.
- I returned most of our newborn clothes thinking it was pointless to keep them around. Jordan was a 9 lb baby and I was close to 7. Good thing we got some old clothes from my sis in law Megan or he would have nothing to wear! He still drowns in the 0-3 month clothes and even in some of the newborn!
- He's such a sweetie. Multiple times a day, Jordan or I will just stare at him and say, "Isn't he so sweet?"

First day home from the hospital and looking miniature in his newborn sized pajamas.
Love this pic with Aunt Kate's diet coke. He always seems much bigger in pics so this helps show how little he is

I remember how bad nursing hurts the first 2 weeks. Makes you cringe every time they latch on. Good thing it doesn't always last. You look good as a mom! Sooo cute!
